I have been a personal trainer since 1999 and established Drakes Gym in 2005. I have always enjoyed sport, I coach football and still play so Personal Training and running Drakes isn’t just a job for me. It’s what I love. I am also passionate about animal rights and have been a Vegan since January 2014. Since adopting a "plant based" diet and training regularly on the Pilates reformer I have found that I can train harder and recover quicker.

 

I believe training sessions should be enjoyable as well as productive. The key to achieving and maintaining long term results is through consistency which clients can only achieve if their programs are realistic and they have room to enjoy life. It’s also really important to enjoy training sessions so I like to use a variation of methods when training with my clients. Including the Pilates Reformer, free weights and body weight exercises. The key is to constantly challenge your body with a variation of training techniques.

 I am a qualified personal trainer and Pilates instructor with five years of experience in studio classes and one-to-one training across London.

I was introduced to the Pilates method in my high school years as part of my contemporary dance training. I experienced the benefits straight away as it improved my dance technique & body awareness. Practising Pilates has kept me fit, healthy and injury-free.

The movement repertoire of Reformer Pilates is based on the original Pilates method - spinal rehabilitation - combined with modern exercise science. It enhances your strength and flexibility from the bottom of your heels to the top of your head. It leaves you feel strong physically as well as mentally.

Over the past 10 years I have worked with a variety of clients, ranging from academy sports teams to busy professionals, and always like to work with a results-driven approach. I prioritise postural analysis and corrective exercise, using my Sports Science background and Sports Massage skills to ensure my clients are functioning optimally. I have worked extensively assessing and treating injuries and work closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths and other trainers to achieve the best results for my clients. It’s no good training hard if your diet’s not up to scratch, and so I work closely with my clients to ensure their diet complements their training program. I have always loved sport and fitness having played football at academy level growing up. I am also a qualified ski and snowboard instructor so love to head to the slopes whenever possible!

My goal as a coach is to empower women through fitness. I am experienced in helping those who want to be fit, strong and confident reach their goals.

 

My passion is a result of my own fitness journey. Up until my early twenties I had been very overweight. Though I wanted to change my body and life more than anything, I was scared that people would laugh at the fat girl training. However, in 2014 I decided enough was enough. Through resistance training and consistency with my nutrition I lost just under 4 stone in 6 months. As my body grew stronger, so did my mind and I knew that helping people change their lives for the better was exactly what I wanted to do with my time.

 

In the time since starting training I have also taken up Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. In that time I have medalled in The London Open, British Nationals and British Open to name a few. I never believed that I could lose weight and be confident with my body, let alone be good at a sport as well.  If I can change my life, then trust me, so can you.
